1918
The original workshop
Upon returning from the First World War, Victor Gourdon set up a blacksmith and farrier’s workshop. He manufactured carts and horse-drawn carriages. His wife, Augustine, was by his side every day. Together, they laid the foundations of the family business.
1948
Second generation
Upon Victor’s death, his son René took over the workshop. He hired his first workers and developed a local clientele, mainly composed of farmers. The business then focused on repairs, blacksmithing, and local services.
1973
The first GOURDON trailer
After reviving the family business in 1965, Michel, René Gourdon’s eldest son, designed the first trailer equipped with a hydraulic cylinder with a farmer friend. This handcrafted innovation marked the beginning of GOURDON trailer production.
1975
A close-knit family
Didier Gourdon joined the company. Together, they created a range of agricultural trailers and founded SARL GOURDON Frères in 1987.
1980
Launch of the monohull range
The company designs its first monohull trailer and develops a distribution network, initiated by Didier Gourdon
1987 – 1990
New product ranges & expansion
Expansion of production buildings, launch of forage platforms, and development of trailers with sideboards and for green spaces
1990s
Diversification into public works
Due to the agricultural crisis, the company diversified into construction trailers. Success was immediate. First INTERMAT trade fair in 1994.
1998 to 2010
Structuring & Innovation
Launch of the Joker monohull range, adoption of road pneumatic braking, acquisition of a welding robot
2007 – 2012
Technological Innovation & Growth
Partnership with Guima-Palfinger for the distribution and assembly of their Power arm on Gourdon agricultural chassis; launch of the Gourdon multi-function container carrier: RCM
2013
Turning 40th
S.A. GOURDON celebrates its 40th anniversary: new line of monohull tippers (Domex500 steel), launch of the first screw hopper for transshipment, implementation of computerized quality monitoring.
2015
Deployment of the ferries
Creation of the first 33m³ side-tipping transfer truck, range of high-volume 53m³ trailers with hydraulic extensions, development of models for the forestry industry
2017
Expansion & Innovation
Expansion of the range of side-tipping transfer trucks, strengthening over 40 years of experience serving the agricultural, construction and environmental sectors
2018
New industrial era
Pierre and Sophie Gourdon take over the family business. Modernization, robotization, extension of the buildings, creation of the stainless steel workshop and launch of the Environment range.
Today
With more than 70 employees, a robotic site and a complete offering (agricultural, public works, environment, green spaces), GOURDON is a national and European player, guided by innovation, quality and human values.
